Basilur is a Sri Lankan brand of Ceylon teas in decorative tins, often bought as gifts. From Basilur we stock tea books, the Oriental gift collection, Milk Oolong tea and a cast-iron teapot.
Basilur Tea Export was founded in Sri Lanka by Dr Gamini Abeywickrama with the aim of offering tea as an elegant gift – which is why decorative tins and boxes play such a big part at Basilur. All blends are packed at the company's own facility in Sri Lanka, and the brand is sold in more than 65 countries. Packs of pure Ceylon tea carry the lion logo, which confirms that the tea comes from Sri Lanka and was packed there.
What we stock
Tea books (Volume I and II) are book-shaped tins containing 100 g of loose-leaf tea based on Ceylon black tea. Oriental is a gift set of 60 enveloped tea bags with six kinds of tea, including Moroccan Mint and Masala Chai. Milk Oolong (100 g) is an oolong with a delicate milky aroma. We also offer a 500 ml cast-iron teapot.
Once the tea is finished, the tins can be reused for tea or spices. Brew black tea with boiling water, and oolong with slightly cooler water, around 85–90 °C.
