Beksul is a South Korean brand of sugar, flour, oils and sauces from CJ CheilJedang. From Beksul we stock bulgogi marinades – for beef and for pork.
CheilJedang was founded in 1953 as a sugar producer and, according to CJ, was the first to produce sugar in Korea itself. The Beksul brand – Korean for "white snow" – was created in 1965, and its symbol is a snowflake. Today CJ CheilJedang sells sugar, flour, oils, sauces and marinades under the brand; it has offered sauces and marinades since 1986.
What we stock
Bulgogi ("fire meat") is one of Korea's best-known dishes: thinly sliced meat marinated in soy sauce with sugar, garlic and sesame oil, quickly seared on a grill or in a pan. We offer Beksul marinades in 500 g glass jars in versions for beef and for pork.
Cut the meat into slices 2–3 mm thick, mix with the marinade and leave for at least 30 minutes, or overnight in the fridge. Then sear it in a hot pan or on a grill. Serve with rice, wrapped in lettuce leaves with ssamjang paste, or with kimchi.
