Bulldog
Bull-Dog is a Japanese sauce maker from Tokyo that has been making sauces since 1905. From Bull-Dog we stock thick vegetable and fruit tonkatsu sauce.
The company was founded in 1902 by Nakasaburo Kojima as a food wholesaler in Tokyo's Nihonbashi district, and in 1905 he began making his own sauce. The Bull-Dog trademark dates from 1909 – the bulldog being a popular symbol of England, where Worcestershire sauce was created. Bull-Dog has made tonkatsu sauce since 1951. The company is listed on the Tokyo stock exchange and holds more than half of the sauce market in the Kanto region.
What we stock
Tonkatsu sauce (500 ml) is a thick, sweet and tangy sauce made from vegetables and fruit, produced in Japan's Gunma Prefecture. It goes with tonkatsu fried pork cutlets, chicken katsu and korokke croquettes, but also with okonomiyaki, yakisoba or burgers.
Serve tonkatsu with shredded white cabbage, rice and miso soup; pour the sauce straight over the cutlet or into a dipping bowl.
