City Aroma (Chinese 满城香) is a Chinese brand of dried mushrooms and noodles from the Blue Lake group of Fuzhou. From City Aroma we stock dried shiitake mushrooms in a large 454 g pack.
The brand belongs to the Blue Lake food group from Fuzhou in Fujian province, which according to its European importer was founded in 1987 and exports to more than 70 countries and regions. The group is involved in growing, processing, storing and exporting food; under the City Aroma brand it sells konjac shirataki noodles as well as mushrooms.
What we stock
Dried shiitake mushrooms (454 g) have a strong mushroom aroma and umami taste. The large pack lasts a long time – store the mushrooms in a dry place, tightly sealed.
Soak the mushrooms in cold water for several hours or overnight in the fridge; in hot water they soften faster but lose some of their flavour. Then cut off the tough stems and always cook the mushrooms. Strain the soaking water and use it as stock for miso soup or noodles. Shiitake are good in soups, braised dishes, fried rice and filled dumplings.
