Cock Brand
Cock Brand is a Thai food brand with a red cockerel in its logo, owned by the Bangkok company Thai World Import & Export. From Cock Brand we stock curry pastes – red, green, yellow, massaman and panang – and green mung beans.
The brand is owned by Thai World Import & Export of Bangkok, a trading company founded in 1976 by the Chan Brothers group which, according to its own figures, exports Thai and Asian food to more than 70 countries. A wide range is sold under the brand with a cockerel on a mountain top – from curry pastes and coconut milk to palm sugar, tamarind and rice noodles.
What we stock
Curry pastes in 400 g packs are the basis of Thai curries. Green and red paste are cooked with coconut milk, chicken or vegetables, yellow is milder and goes well with potatoes and chicken, massaman, with notes of cinnamon and cardamom, suits beef and peanuts, and panang makes a thicker, slightly sweet curry.
First fry the paste briefly in a little oil or thick coconut cream until it releases its aroma, then pour in the rest of the coconut milk. One or two tablespoons are usually enough for two people; adjust the heat to taste. Green mung beans are good in soups, dhal and sweet Asian desserts.
