Under the Fu Tong brand we stock Longkou glass noodles from China's Shandong province, portioned in 1 kg packs.
Longkou noodles (Chinese 龍口粉絲) are among the best-known Chinese glass noodles. Since 2010 they have had protected geographical indication status in the EU – one of the first Chinese names ever to do so – and may only be made around the city of Yantai in Shandong province. They are named after the port of Longkou, through which they were exported to the world.
They are made from mung bean or pea starch; they are white, translucent and do not go mushy when cooked. Our pack contains pea starch and 30% mung bean starch and is imported by the Dutch company Heuschen & Schrouff.
What we stock
Longkou glass noodles (1 kg) are divided into portions. Before use, soak them in hot water for 5–10 minutes, drain and add them to soups, salads, spring rolls or fried noodles; in hot broth they only need a few minutes.
