Geumhong is a collective brand for ginseng products from Geumsan County in South Korea, granted by the county only to vetted producers. Under it we stock red ginseng extract, instant ginseng tea, jelly and sweets.
According to local tradition, Geumsan in South Chungcheong Province has been growing ginseng for around 1,500 years. In 2018 the FAO listed the area's traditional ginseng cultivation as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System (GIAHS); the ginseng grows in the shade under shelters, and the fields rotate in a long cycle of 15–20 years.
The Geumhong brand is managed by the Geumsan County Office. Only producers that meet the requirements for facilities and quality control may use it, and their products carry a round gold hologram. The trademark is registered in Korea, the USA, China, Japan, Taiwan and Hong Kong.
What we stock
We sell concentrated Gold red ginseng extract (120 g), instant red ginseng tea in sachets (50 × 3 g), red ginseng jelly and ginseng sweets – red and black. Red ginseng is made by steaming and drying the fresh root, black ginseng by repeated steaming and drying, which gives it its dark colour. The tea just needs stirring into hot water; the extract is stirred into warm water or added to tea.
