Hana is the own brand for Japanese products of the American Asian food importer Rhee Bros. From Hana we stock buckwheat soba noodles in 800 g packs.
Rhee Bros. was founded in 1976 by four Rhee brothers in Maryland, USA, and is now one of the major distributors of Asian food in the United States. Hana was its first own brand of Japanese products and has existed for more than 35 years. The name means "flower" in Japanese and "one" in Korean.
What we stock
Buckwheat soba noodles (800 g) are made in South Korea from wheat flour with 20% buckwheat flour. Drop a bundle of noodles into about a litre of boiling water, cook for about 6 minutes and stir occasionally so the noodles do not stick together. Then drain them and rinse thoroughly in cold water.
In Japan, soba is eaten cold with tsuyu dipping sauce (zaru soba) or hot in dashi broth with spring onion and tempura. It is also good in salads with a sesame dressing.
