Hananomai

Hananomai rice (Japanese はなの舞) is a medium-grain japonica rice grown in Vietnam. It is supplied to Europe by the Austria-based wholesaler Panasia, which serves Asian shops and restaurants in many European countries, including the Czech Republic.

What we stock

Sushi rice in a 9 kg bag is intended mainly for restaurants and sushi bars, but it is also worthwhile at home if you make sushi or onigiri often. Japonica rice is sticky once cooked and holds its shape, so it is easy to mould.

Rinse the rice in cold water until the water runs clear, and cook it with water in a ratio of about 1:1.1 to 1:1.2; after cooking, let it rest under the lid for 10–15 minutes. For sushi, mix it while still warm with a dressing of rice vinegar, sugar and salt.
