Jongga
Jongga is a South Korean kimchi brand from Daesang, which in 1987 became the first in Korea to sell packaged kimchi. From Jongga we stock kimchi in tins – stir-fried and classic Mat Kimchi.
The brand was created in 1987 from joint research with the Korean technology institute KAIST and founded the packaged kimchi market in Korea. The name refers to family recipes passed down from generation to generation. Since 2006 it has belonged to the Daesang food group. Today Jongga exports to more than 90 countries – its largest market is the United States, where it also has its own plant near Los Angeles – and accounts for more than half of Korea's kimchi exports.
What we stock
Kimchi in a 160 g tin is shelf-stable, so it is handy for travelling, work or a weekend cottage. Stir-fried kimchi (bokkeum kimchi) is cabbage braised in a pan, with milder heat; Mat Kimchi is classic kimchi made from cut Chinese cabbage.
Serve kimchi with rice and Korean dishes, or add it to kimchi bokkeumbap fried rice, kimchi jeon pancakes or kimchi jjigae stew. Once opened, transfer it to a sealed container, keep it in the fridge and use within a few days.
