Sa Giang
Sa Giang is a Vietnamese maker of prawn crackers from the town of Sa Đéc in the Mekong Delta, with a history going back to 1960. From Sa Giang we stock classic crackers in 200 g and 1 kg packs and coloured crackers in 500 g packs.
The company's beginnings go back to 1960, when Lê Minh Triết set up a family workshop making prawn crackers in Sa Đéc. Today it is known as Sa Giang Import Export Corporation (Sagimexco): its shares are traded on the Hanoi stock exchange, it is majority-owned by the fishery group Vinh Hoan, and it produces around 9,000 tonnes of products a year. It exports crackers made from tapioca starch and prawns from Đồng Tháp province to 31 countries.
What we stock
The crackers are dried and are fried before eating. We sell the classic ones in 200 g and 1 kg packs and coloured crackers in five colours (500 g).
Heat oil to 170–190 °C, drop in a few crackers at a time and, as soon as they puff up and turn golden within a few seconds, lift them out onto kitchen paper. The producer also gives a microwave method, about 40–60 seconds. The crackers are served as a snack, with beer, with Asian starters or with salads.
