Smiling Fish is the export brand of the Thai canned fish producer Kuang Pei San, known in Thailand as Pumpui. From Smiling Fish we stock fried mackerel in XO sauce in 160 g tins.
Kuang Pei San was founded in 1979 in Trang province in southern Thailand and started with sardines in tomato sauce. Since 1994 it has been a public company on the Thai stock exchange, and its new factory can produce up to 130 million cans a year. In Thailand it sells under the Pumpui brand and abroad as Smiling Fish – both with the same smiling fish in the logo.
The range includes sardines and mackerel in tomato sauce, fried and curried fish, catfish, baby clams and curry pastes.
What we stock
Fried mackerel in XO sauce (160 g) is mackerel in a spicy sauce with chilli and dried shrimp. Just heat it and serve with rice, add it to fried rice or noodles, or eat it cold with cucumber and fresh herbs.
