Sunflower (Chinese 向阳花) is a Chinese tea brand of the state-owned Fujian Tea Import & Export from Fujian province. From Sunflower we stock jasmine tea in a 227 g tin.
Fujian Tea Import & Export was founded in 1950 and is now part of the China Tea group, a member of the state-owned COFCO corporation. It processes teas at its own Fuxing plant and exports them to more than 60 countries; besides Sunflower, its brands include Butterfly and Sprouting.
Jasmine tea from Fuzhou
Jasmine tea has been made in Fuzhou for more than a thousand years. Green tea is layered with jasmine blossoms that are just opening and absorbs their fragrance; for the highest grades this is repeated up to nine times. In 2014 the FAO listed Fuzhou's jasmine and tea culture system as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System.
What we stock
Jasmine tea (227 g, tin) is loose-leaf green tea with a jasmine fragrance. Brew it with water at around 80 °C for 2–3 minutes; the leaves can be infused several times. The tin protects the tea from light and moisture.
