Yopokki is a Korean brand of instant tteokbokki in a cup from Young Poong of Daegu. We stock Sweet & Spicy rice cakes and Jjajang with black bean sauce in 140 g cups.
Yopokki is made by Young Poong, which has been making rice cakes in Daegu since 1993 (we also stock them under the Matamun brand). Thanks to a patented process, its rice cakes keep for up to a year at room temperature and can therefore be exported worldwide – Yopokki is now sold in around 120 countries and accounts for more than a quarter of Korea's tteokbokki exports. The name refers to the polite Korean ending "-yo".
What we stock
Sweet & Spicy is classic sweet and spicy tteokbokki, while Jjajang has a mild black bean sauce. Preparation according to the producer: open the lid, tip the rice cakes and sauce into the cup, add about 20 ml of water, stir, cover loosely with the lid and heat in the microwave for 1–1.5 minutes at 1000 W or 2–2.5 minutes at 700 W.
When opened, you may notice a faint smell of alcohol – it comes from the sterilisation process and evaporates during heating.
