Kewpie
Kewpie is a Japanese maker of mayonnaise and dressings from Tokyo that launched Japan's first mayonnaise in 1925. From Kewpie we stock roasted sesame dressing in a 930 ml bottle.
The company was founded in 1919 by Toichiro Nakashima, who discovered mayonnaise while studying in the USA and Britain. In 1925 Kewpie launched the first mayonnaise in Japan – unlike European mayonnaise, it is made with egg yolks only. It took its name and mascot from the Kewpie doll, popular at the time. In 1958 it introduced Japan's first bottled salad dressing, and today it makes mayonnaise and dressings for more than 70 countries.
What we stock
Roasted sesame dressing (Deep Roasted Sesame Dressing, 930 ml) is a creamy dressing with 5% roasted sesame seeds and tamari soy sauce. Kewpie has made it since 2000; the pack for Europe comes from the company's factory in Poland. The large bottle suits restaurants and households alike.
The dressing is good on vegetable and noodle salads, with cooked broccoli and spinach, as a dip for shabu-shabu and spring rolls, or as a sauce for chicken and tofu. Shake the bottle before use and keep it in the fridge once opened.
