Mori-Nu is an American brand of shelf-stable silken tofu from Morinaga Nutritional Foods, a subsidiary of Japan's Morinaga Milk. We stock tofu from extra soft to extra firm and an almond tofu dessert.
The Japanese dairy Morinaga Milk Industry set up an American subsidiary in 1985, which began selling Mori-Nu tofu in the USA. Today the tofu is made in Oregon from non-GMO soybeans grown by contract farmers, and the company's European branch supplies it to Europe.
What makes it special is the packaging: the tofu is aseptically packed in a carton that protects it from light and air. This means it keeps without refrigeration or preservatives – you can store it in the cupboard and only put it in the fridge once opened.
What we stock
Silken tofu has a smooth, creamy texture. Extra soft and soft are ideal for smoothies, creams, dressings and vegan desserts or for miso soup. Firm and extra firm hold their shape and can be cut into cubes for soups, mapo tofu or baking. Almond tofu dessert (315 g) is a sweet version with almond flavour.
