What is it

Kikkoman soy sauce is a classic salty sauce that no Japanese or other Asian kitchen can do without. The 150 ml bottle in glass is practical for trying it at home or for the table. The bottle has a table dispenser spout, thanks to which the sauce can be easily dosed drop by drop.

Kikkoman is a Japanese manufacturer from the city of Noda, whose tradition dates back to the 17th century. Its soy sauce is sold in more than 100 countries. This small bottle was made in the Netherlands.

Taste and properties

Soy sauce gives dishes a salty, distinctive umami flavour. It is dark brown and dissolves easily into both liquid and sauce-based dishes. It is made from only four ingredients. It contains soy and wheat, which you should keep in mind when preparing food for people with allergies. The product is labelled as vegan.

Usage and Tips

In the kitchen it can be used in many ways:

• as a dip for sushi and sashimi,
• to season boiled rice, fried rice and noodles,
• in marinades for meat, fish, tofu and vegetables,
• in soups, braised dishes and wok dishes,
• as a partial replacement for salt when cooking.

The sauce is salty, so add it gradually and taste the food before adding more salt. For a dip, a few drops in a small dish are enough.

Storage

After opening, keep the bottle in the refrigerator and close it tightly.
