Nongshim Shin Ramyun spicy ramen soup 120g

What is it

Shin Ramyun from the South Korean brand Nongshim is a spicy instant noodle soup of the ramen type. The package contains pressed wheat noodles, a sachet of seasoning powder, and a sachet of dried vegetables and mushrooms. Ramyun is one of the best-known quick meals in Korea, and Shin Ramyun is one of its classic versions.

Taste and Properties

The broth is strongly spicy and richly seasoned, with the flavour of garlic, black pepper and red chilli pepper. The flakes contain pak choi, shiitake, carrot and onion, which add a vegetable component and varied textures to the soup. The product is labelled as vegan and halal

Preparation

Measure 550 ml of boiling water per serving. Add the noodles together with the contents of both sachets and cook for 4.5 minutes. Then serve the soup immediately, while the noodles are still nice and springy.

The portion is fairly generous and is enough for most people as a standalone meal. If you prefer a milder taste, add only part of the seasoning powder or more water.

Usage and Tips

You can enrich the basic soup to your taste and turn it into a complete meal:

• hard-boiled eggs or eggs stirred into the broth
• tofu, kimchi, or fresh spring onions
• sliced vegetables, for example mushrooms or leafy greens
• slices of meat, if you do not want to stick to the vegetarian version
