Samyang
Samyang Foods is the South Korean company that launched Korea's first instant ramen in 1963. Worldwide it is famous for its spicy Buldak noodles – we stock them in several heat levels, with cheese and as carbonara.
The company was founded in Seoul in 1961 by Chun Joong-yoon. Samyang Ramen, launched in 1963, was the first instant ramen in Korea and was meant to help with post-war food shortages. In 1972 Samyang also introduced Korea's first cup ramen.
Buldak
Samyang launched its spicy Buldak ("fire chicken") noodles in 2012. The idea came from Kim Jung-soo, who saw diners in a Seoul restaurant sweating over spicy chicken and still enjoying it. From 2014 the online Fire Noodle Challenge made Buldak famous worldwide; today it is sold in around 100 countries, and exports make up most of the company's revenue.
What we stock
We offer Buldak ramen in the original and double-spicy version (2x Spicy), with cheese and as Carbonara, some also in cups. These are soupless noodles: the cooked noodles are drained and mixed with the sauce. If you are new to Buldak, go for the cheese or carbonara version, which are milder; an egg or a slice of cheese also tones down the heat. The classic is represented by Samyang Ramen Original soup.
